Our Center for Energy is looking for new Ingenious Partner for our location in Vienna. At the Center for Energy we develop sustainable solutions for the future energy system, taking into account technological, regulatory and economic requirements. The topic portfolio is based on three central systems: Public Energy Supply Systems, Industrial Energy Systems and Cities & Built Environment.

Our multidisciplinary and international team researches new approaches and solutions for climate-neutral cities and neighbourhoods around the world.

RESEARCH ENGINEER (M/F/D) CLIMATE NEUTRAL AND SMART CITIES

CENTER FOR ENERGY

 

  • You will contribute to seven generations of Smart Cities Lighthouse Projects, consisting for e.g. of Scalable Cities | Smart Cities Marketplace (europa.eu).
  • You will support the development of monitoring KPIs of smart cities and measures for implementation in follow up projects. You will support the European Commission in the development of such projects, specifically in upscaling the outcomes in and for other cities.
  • You will be in contact with multiple groups of different stakeholders of the Smart Cities Lighthouse project communities and you will identify, integrate, and coordinate the experts within the projects.
  • You identify relevant and innovative developments in your field and collaborate with municipalities, engineers, architects, and urban planners in order to strategically apply these planning concepts.
  • You are responsible for acquiring medium-sized European research as well as consultancy projects dedicated to smart city developments.
  • You create new research ideas and develop them for research proposals and applied projects as part of an agile research team.
  • Your expertise in smart city strategy in the field of energy, mobility, climate and urban planning leads cities towards comprehensive monitoring routines and informed decision-making.
  • You will become a known player in the European and Austrian smart city community.
  • You publish in peer-reviewed journals that highlight findings from the research project and present research findings at international conferences
  Your qualifications as an Ingenious Partner:  
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Urban Planning/Spatial Planning, Engineering, Smart City related studies or specialisations
  • A proven work experience in smart city development with a focus on writing call for experts
  • Several years of experience in project management
  • Experience in planning and conducting physical or virtual workshops
  • Successful track record in the acquisition of customer and funding projects
  • Ability to initiate and conduct research and consulting projects
  • Good cross-sectoral understanding of urban development
  • Strong network in academia and industry
  • Interested in writing scientific publications
  • Good organisation skills and analytical thinking
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written in English


What to expect:
The minimum gross annual salary according to the collective agreement is EUR 53.256,–. The actual salary will be determined individually, based on your qualifications and experience.
